If you feel ready to use RSS advertising to boost your business, you have to devise an RSS marketing plan.
  • RSS feeds must be planned for various parts of your business (news sections, articles, e-zine, etc.). A good approach would be to create RSS feeds for your major keywords.
  • Also, you must decide if you want to create RSS feeds for your business partners, for your employees, shareholders, and even for the media. Establish your target audiences, the types of content and the content topics.
  • Then, you must concentrate on the specifics of the RSS marketing strategy that you adopt: RSS metrics, personalization, integration, hosting, budget, etc.
  • The next step would be the selection of an RSS publishing tool and your first RSS submission.
  • When it comes to promoting your RSS feeds, it is best to do it through your own channels, such as an RSS presentation page (which should contain a definition of RSS, benefits for the subscriber, etc.) on your website (where you should include links to all your RSS feeds), promoting this RSS presentation page and your feeds on the most visible locations of your website, in your email messages, or on e-zine issues; make sure that you offer enough information to convince your visitors to subscribe to your RSS feeds. You can also promote your RSS feeds through external channels, like submitting them to good RSS Submission Directories
  • Each time you update the online content, ping the RSS aggregation sites. This will send an alert that new content is available for indexing.
Conclusion

Generally speaking, RSS offers diverse and concentrated information to web users for which knowledge is essential. In order to get to and use RSS feeds web users just have to follow these simple steps:

1. Download from the Internet an RSS application; many of them are free, such as the ones available on: 2. Install the application;
3. Enter the URL for the RSS page of their choice.

The RSS reader can be easily configured to check the websites for new information at regular intervals, or this can be done manually (from the application).

"Visiting the website is dating; getting a daily e-mail is going steady - but subscribing to an RSS feed, well, that is like getting married to a news source. It's really the highest commitment you can make." (Jason Calacanis, founder of Weblogs, Inc.)
