Carl Theobald

President & Chief Executive Officer


Jeff Hodges

Chief Financial Officer

Carl Theobald is a seasoned technology executive with a proven track record of building high-performance organizations and bringing world-class products and services to market.

Prior to joining Avangate in 2011, Carl served as SVP at Serena Software, one of the largest independent software companies in the Application Lifecycle Management market. Running more than half the company, Carl was responsible for all of Serena's products and services - including launching Serena's first ever SaaS based solutions.

Carl has also held multiple executive roles at Oracle including running Oracle's Sales, Marketing and eCommerce products division.

Throughout his career, Carl has also helped to build multiple venture-backed companies, including RubiconSoft, a company he co-founded to provide better visibility into demand for the manufacturing industry.

Carl received an MS in Engineering-Economic Systems from Stanford University and a BS in Electrical Engineering from Princeton University, where he graduated Summa Cum Laude. Carl is passionate about playing the piano and music composition, receiving the "Most Outstanding Musician Award" from the New England Conservatory.
Prior to joining Avangate, Jeff was a Senior Vice President and Chief Financial Officer at Tier Technologies, and served at Firethorn Holdings (acquired by Qualcomm) as CFO from 2006 to June 2011 and was responsible for overseeing all treasury, budgeting, financial and accounting management, investor relations, internal and external reporting, internal audit, tax and administrative functions.

Before this, he served as CFO and corporate secretary for PRESolutions, a leading provider of prepaid transaction processing solutions that was acquired by InComm in 2006. Jeff also served as CFO and corporate secretary of nFront, an online banking and bill payment start up that went public in June of 1999 and was subsequently acquired by Digital Insight (now Intuit Financial Services). Previously, he served as vice president and controller of Powertel, a cellular phone company that is now a part of T-Mobile.

Jeff was a finalist in the 2008 Atlanta Business Chronicle CFO of the Year Awards. He is a certified public accountant in Georgia and earned a BS in accounting from Auburn University.

Len Eschweiler

Michael Ni

Chief Marketing Officer/Senior Vice President Marketing and Products

Len Eschweiler brings over 20 years of experience as a technology executive in building successful sales organizations, from high volume, small and medium-size businesses to complex, Fortune 500 companies.

As a seasoned sales executive and entrepreneur, Len has sustained success in building global sales teams and managing multi-channel e-commerce initiatives, with business experience spanning online services, software, payments, B2B and B2C sales and digital marketing.

Prior to joining Avangate, Len held multiple leadership roles with Amazon including Amazon Webstore and Amazon Payments where he headed up sales, services, and strategic business development for the North American region. Previously, Eschweiler was the Senior Vice President of Sales and Client Success at MyBuys, establishing the company as the top Internet Retailer 500 personalization provider for 6 consecutive years. He also drove significant growth resulting in billions of dollars in merchant sales as the Vice President of Sales and Business Development at MarketLive, a leading SaaS and e-commerce provider.

Len is based in the Bay Area, studied Computer Science at Colorado State University, and has a B.S. in Finance with a Minor in Music from Sonoma State University. He is also an accomplished rock guitarist. His band's music has been used in national advertising campaigns and television programs for Corona Beer, ESPN, and USA Networks.
Michael Ni brings over 20 years of experience as a marketing and product executive in bringing successful innovation-driven businesses to market - from start-up to fortune 500 companies.

Michael's business experience spans across software, telecommunications, consumer packaged goods and digital media.

Prior to joining Avangate, Michael served as VP Products at Amdocs, where he drove the definition and development of next generation customer management, retail and commerce applications. In addition, he has held executive positions at leading CRM/ERP vendors, technology startups, and in strategy consulting. These roles include GM/Managing Director at MyWire, a venture-backed new media company; VP of Product at Oracle / PeopleSoft, where he drove the definition and development of the "Fusion" next-generation applications platform; VP of Product and Operations at venture-funded OnePage, Inc. (acquired by Sybase, Inc.) as well as Marketing Strategy Consultant at PriceWaterhouseCoopers.

Michael received an MBA from Harvard Business School, an MS from Stanford University and a BS in Mechanical Engineering/Robotics from Massachusetts Institute of Technology.

John Keating

SVP, Services and Support


Cristian Badea

Chief Information Officer

John Keating brings over 15 years of Digital Commerce and SaaS industry expertise to Avangate and has a proven track record leading services and support organizations at many fast growth companies.

Prior to joining Avangate, Keating was Vice President of Professional Services for the Americas at hybris Software, an SAP company.

As the first North American employee of hybris, Keating oversaw sales, marketing, human resources and professional services as part of a successful expansion into the Americas region. After the acquisition of iCongo, Keating accepted responsibility for the combined services teams in the Americas, a role he retained after a subsequent acquisition of hybris by SAP.

Prior to hybris, Keating was Director of Hosted Services at Orbitz and saw that organization through its initial public offering.

John received his B.S. from the University of Notre Dame and both his M.B.A. and M.S. In Integrated Marketing Communications from Loyola University (Chicago). He is also a licensed commercial pilot and flight instructor.
A founding member of Avangate, Cristian Badea has had a major impact over the company's strategic direction and progress over the years. He understands new trends in technology and how to successfully and efficiently align IT to business goals.

Cristian has a well rounded insight into the software industry, being a developer himself. At the same time, his expertise spans technical, financial and business areas. At Avangate, he is leading multi-departmental projects addressing solution functionality and innovation, scalability, security and efficient resource planning. An outspoken person, Cristian is a mentor and friend to colleagues and partners.

Adriana Iordan

Chief Product Evangelist

Adriana is currently managing several divisions at Avangate: Affiliate Network, UX Design/ Development and Product Management and works closely with marketing, development, sales and customer care teams to deliver projects that support both company goals and client needs.

Adriana joined Avangate from Ipsos Interactive Europe in 2006 as Web Marketing Manager and in this role she has increased Avangate's online visibility and brand recognition, introduced new web marketing products and has taken the Affiliate network from birth to maturity.

With over 8 years' experience in eCommerce & online marketing strategy and planning, user experience, conversion rate analysis and product marketing applied to the software industry, Adriana also served a two year term on the Board Directors of the Association of Software Professionals until 2010.

Brian Stewart

Brian Stewart brings over a decade of sales experience to Avangate and a proven track record of over achievement and success helping his customers grow their online sales. With a deep understanding of the high growth SMB market, Brian leverages his sales leadership and business development skills to drive the company's growth in North America.

Prior to joining Avangate, Brian expanded his sales depth and breadth by heading the North American Mid-Market Sales team for Digital River. Brian also worked as a Business Development Manager at Global Collect, and established his career while employed by VeriSign from 2000 to 2008, where he led his sales organization as both a manager and individual contributor.

A graduate of California Polytechnic State University at San Luis Obispo and a Scholar athlete, Brian holds a Bachelor of Science in I.T. As a person who is committed to both professional and personal growth, he is a member of several technology and ecommerce groups focused on enlightening thought and networking opportunities.
Laurentiu has a world-class experience in digital eCommerce, SaaS and marketing, with a proven record of success in the software industry. He is also empowered with a global expertise in cross-border partnerships development, strategically integrating channel sales development and online sales consulting.

Previously the Area Sales Manager at Avira, he implemented successful and targeted strategies for the channel distribution of the company security products. He developed the International Business in the Western and Northern Europe, but also in all Africa.

In 2006, when he became an Account Executive at Avangate, he started to develop the business on the international markets with a visionary approach, paying attention to details and constantly contributing at the company revenue growth as well as its product development.

Since October 2007, as VP of Global Sales, he has been establishing key business development strategies for Avangate, establishing the world-wide sales force across Europe, Russia, China and North America. Now Laurentiu focuses on the European sales team and he personally handles the company's large corporate accounts.

As many business partners say, he really understands the software business and his result-oriented attitude architects the overall positive evolution of Avangate.

Andy Tung

Vice President, APAC Sales

Andy Tung is a senior eCommerce sales consultant with extensive technology and business knowledge.

Tung brings many years of experience in the software industry. His background in eCommerce for medium/high and enterprise software businesses makes his consulting contributions invaluable to our clients.
